B20-3894

Owned since 2005.  When tested by Autocar in 1976 (then registered 7PMG) this car had travelled a reported 380,000 miles.  It is still running well 35 years later with its original engine installed.  I should scan the road test and post it here – some of you might have seen it in Peter Garnier’s Lancia compilation book.

The car’s history as compiled by long-time owner Hugh Dickinson in 2005 is here.

    Dear aurelia owner,
Momentarily I am busy with my recently obtained B20S.
I wonder wether the colour of your car is original? If so could you please send me the colourcode.
My B 20 was according to the papers Blu.
And are your seats original, because thes look wonderful. I have got the bench with grey/bue colors.

    Yours sincerely, Jeff

      Hi Jeff,

The colour of this car, though it is close to an original ‘Lancia Blue’ is in fact (I believe) a Ford colour. The car was repainted by the previous owner a few years before I bought the car. Geoff Goldberg has researched and published the paint codes for the B20 on his site here; I’d suggest you talk to your local paint supplier to see if they can do you some sample swatches of (ideally) Lechler paints before you move ahead. Have you managed to find any original paint in your car? ‘Blu’ could be a different colour to the traditional dark blue; perhaps a sky blue Celeste colour, which suits these cars very well indeed.

The seats in 3894 are not original. They have been in the car since its mid’70’s restoration, when the car was entirely re-trimmed. The seats are Lancia, Flavia I think, and are mounted on bespoke frames. They are not ‘correct’, but have been in the car for more than half its life. I quite like them too!

      Good luck with your restoration.
      Best regards,
      William
